JAMES HOWE, AUTHOR, WILL SPEAK AT WILBUR AALFS
LIBRARY
March, 2007–James Howe, author of more than 70 books for
young readers, including the Bunnicula series,
will speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Wilbur
Aalfs Library, 529 Pierce St.
His young adult novel, "The Misfits," inspired
the national No-Name Calling Week project and
is being used as a tool to talk about name-calling,
bullying and harassment in schools.
Howe will read selections from "The Misfits" and
answer questions from the audience. Students,
parents and educators are invited to attend this
program. A book signing andreception follows
the discussion; copies will be available for
purchase at the event.
Organizations sponsoring Howe’s visit
to Sioux City include Humanities Iowa, the Waitt
Institute for Violence Prevention, the Sioux
City Human Rights Commission, and Iowa Safe Schools,
among others.
