Through the Waitt Institute for Discovery's Program for Anthropological and Archaeological Studies, we believe that if we can understand the nature of human diversity, it will become far easier for us to embrace what we all share in common and work to promote a better future.

The newly launched Program for Ocean Exploration and Conservation is committed to enabling interdisciplinary research deep beneath the planet's last frontier of discovery. The Institute believes that our future, like our past, is tied in part to that of the sea.

The Waitt Family Foundation is a charitable organization that makes grants to organizations striving to help us understand our past, improve the present, and prepare for the future. The Foundation also supports the work of two affiliated organizations: the Waitt Institute for Discovery, and the Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention.

The Foundation invites proposals for projects with the potential for major discovery or lasting, significant change. Proposals may be submitted in any of our three interest areas: Historical Discovery, Community Building, or Scientific Breakthroughs.

Working closely with the Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention,we are committed to changing social norms that accept violence as a part of life. We do this in our hometown, our nation, and our world.

The Waitt Institute for Discovery and the Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention are separately incorporated and carry out their own programs, working in the areas of interest they share with the Waitt Family Foundation. The Institutes do not make grants to other organizations, though they frequently work closely with nonprofit organizations receiving funding from the Foundation.
